Performance: The State of the Students
The Seattle Rep Youth Fest, June 3-4, 2023
The State of the Students was created for the Western States Center’s Common Good Masterclass for Artists & Cultural Workers: Combatting Racism, Antisemitism, and Antidemocratic Movements. 137 young people from all over the United States responded to an online questionnaire on these topics. The words in this play are their voices: like the Presidential State of the Union address, a message to the public on the current conditions of our nation. Written by Rachel Atkins, with support from the Seattle Office of Arts and Culture.
About the production at the Rep: An all-youth performance, featuring high school actors from across the Puget Sound. Presented as part of the Next Narrative Monologue Competition Regional Finals at Seattle Repertory Theatre, April 7, 2023, and the Seattle Rep Youth Fest, June 3-4, 2023.
