SUMMARY:Ask a Survivor
DESCRIPTION:When Peter Metzelaar was 7\, the Nazis seized his entire family except for Peter and his mother. With the help of the Dutch Underground\, Peter and his mother were sheltered by rescuers in Holland. \nAfter the war\, Peter and his mother immigrated to the United States. Although Peter spoke no English when he first arrived in the country\, he worked hard in school and went on to have a successful career as a radiology technologist. Today\, he continues to be an active member of the Holocaust Center for Humanity’s Speakers Bureau. \nPeter is available in our museum to answer questions from the public and tell his personal story. This is a rare opportunity to hear the experiences of a Holocaust survivor in person. \nSocialization (Café Europa) programs for Nazi victims\, and educational programs\, have been supported by grants from the Conference on Jewish Material Claims against Germany.
